Knapp zwei Jahre nach dem letzten Jubiläum – 15 Jahre Bandexistenz, 10 Jahre «Contradiction» - jährt sich im kommenden Frühjahr bereits das nächste musikalische Opus der Basler Avantgarde-Pioniere Schammasch: Das ikonische Drittwerk «Triangle» begeht seinen zehnten Geburtstag, welchem in der renovierten und runderneuerten Kuppel Basel der würdige Rahmen geboten wird.
Für einen Grossteil der Anhängerschaft sowie für die musikalische Fachpresse ist der opulente Dreiakter «Triangle» nach wie vor das Referenzwerk des Schammasch’schen Schaffens bis dato. Verteilt auf drei Tonträger mit exakt gleicher Spieldauer, summiert zu insgesamt 100 Minuten, oszilliert das fünfköpfige Konglomerat zwischen intensiv-rasenden Black Metal-Eruptionen, psychotischen Abgründen mit psychedelischen Spitzen und fesselnden Tribal-Monolithen, um zur Klimax im meditativen dritten Teil im Sog des allesumfassenden Nichts aufzugehen. Musikalisch in eklektischer Form die Grenzen des extremen Metal auslotend, zieht sich der inhaltliche Faden kohärent, gleichwohl vielschichtig durch die musikalische Materie und zeichnet den schmerzhaften Prozess des Erkennens und Ablösens des eigenen Egos, die innere Auseinandersetzung und Überwindung der vorgegebenen menschlichen Schranken sowie die Akzeptanz der kosmischen Allumfasstheit und der Einheit aller Dinge: All is one, one is all, all is none.
Uraufgeführt wurde das Werk in voller Länge im Jahre 2017 am renommierten Roadburn Festival in Tilburg im Anschluss an eine massive Europa-Kampagne im Vorjahr zur Präsentation des Albums. Das zehnjährige Jubiläum bietet nun den willkommenen Anlass, dieses epische Werk wieder in Gänze auf die Bühne zu bringen. Exklusiv einmalig pro Land, wurde als Schweizer Austragungsort nachvollziehbarerweise der Heimathafen Basel auserkoren. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Team der Kuppel sowie den verdienstvollen Basilisk Deströyers wird die hypnotische Zelebration unter der gebotenen Feierlichkeit am 9. Mai 2026 stattfinden.

Almost two years after their last anniversary – 15 years of the band’s existence, 10 years of «Contradiction» – another milestone in the history of Basel’s avant-gardists Schammasch is already on the horizon for next spring: the iconic third album «Triangle» will celebrate its tenth anniversary, with the city’s freshly renovated & impressively modernized Kuppel providing the fitting stage & environment.
The opulent three-act opus «Triangle», to this day, remains the definitive reference point of Schammasch’s body of work to many followers, and rightly so; spread across three sound carriers of exactly equal length & leading to a summarized duration of 100 minutes, the five-headed ensemble oscillates between intensely raging black metal eruptions, psychotic abysses with psychedelic peaks, & enthralling tribal monoliths, before culminating in the meditative third chapter, dissolving into the pull of the all-encompassing void. Triangle is a lesson in exploring & transcending the manifold blinders & boundaries that are ever-present in extreme metal, while its conceptual thread runs coherently – yet multilayered – through the musical matter, painting the painful process of recognition and detachment of & from one’s own ego - the inner confrontation of the self, in relation to the idea of a cosmic totality and the unity of all things: All is one, one is all, all is none.
The album was first performed in its entirety in 2017 at the renowned Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, following a massive European campaign the previous year presenting the album. Its tenth anniversary now provides a welcome occasion to bring this uniquely epic piece back to the stage in full. Limited to one single exclusive performance per country, Basel – naturally – has been chosen as the Swiss location. In collaboration with the Kuppel team and the dedicated Basilisk Deströyers, this hypnotic celebration will take place with the appropriate solemnity on May 9th, 2026.
