This month's open mic will take place in Signal's gallery. If you want to, we welcome you to take inspiration from our exhibition - REACTOR by Felicity Hammond!A relaxed and welcoming evening of poetry and spoken word—whether you’re a seasoned performer, trying it for the first time, or haven’t been to Kate’s workshops at all. Come along, share your words, or simply listen and enjoy. All are welcome!Here’s how it works:This ticket is just for attending.If you’d like to perform, you can pop your name down for a slot when you arrive (around 5 mins each).Booking a ticket really helps us plan, but you’re welcome to drop in on the night too.Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start.Michael J HudsonThe evening’s MC will be Michael J Hudson, a British poet and writer based in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. In September, through a collaboration with TheatreFactory, Michael released his debut poetry collection Indigo, a thematically diverse body of work exploring nature, place, love, hope and loss, space and fantasy, and internal dialogue.Looking ahead, Michael intends to keep his creative spirit aflame by releasing a follow-up poetry collection and continuing to perform locally and further afield. He supportively encourages anybody irrespective of ability or experience to take their poetry to the open mic, a sentiment that we all share here at Signal.A Welcoming Space for Everyone:Our aim for this Signal Open Mic event is to foster an inclusive, encouraging space for poets and spoken word performers of all experience levels and backgrounds to share and listen. We encourage experimentation and the pushing of boundaries, but hate speech or material offensive to others because of a protected characteristic (as set out in Equalities Act 2010) is not acceptable.
