- **Event Description**: November is the month we give thanks for the bounty in our lives and remember the folks that first came to America and the folks they encountered here. One thing necessary to the settlers was iron for tool fabrication. Bog Iron was a Roman-era technology to recover low-grade iron ore from bogs and swamps to refine and craft into the tools they needed. Brasen Hill Farm still has the bog used and a hiking trail that sits atop the tailings (remains) from this process. See where the locals obtained the ore, felled the trees for charcoal and smelted (refined) the ore for the steel that built Colonial America.

Length ~ 3 miles, time ~ 2 hrs.

Join John Wallace ready to hike at the Brasen Hill (Warren) Farm. Park along the driveway to the left, before the farmhouse. We will hike out to the bog and take the Tailings Trail north to explore this former iron and farming site.
