“Fishing for Freedom” is an ice fishing derby being held to give back to our community and support our Veterans, with all proceeds going to Veterans Count by Easter Seals NH.
We ask you to join us for a day full of fun fishing with the opportunity to win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each target species for both the adult and children’s bracket (14 and under).
Please come out to support the community, and our Veterans by participating in the derby!
Location and Time: (02/14/2026)
-Suncook Lake (Upper & Lower), Barnstead NH
-Sunrise to 3:30pm
*Fish may be weighed in at any point throughout the day, scales close at 3:30, derby winners and the 50/50 winner will be announced at 4:00pm
*Weigh in and event center will be on the Barnstead public beach at the north end of Upper Suncook
*Recommended parking at Narrows Rd and the Barnstead Public Beach (Eastman Ln)
Entry Tickets:
-Entry tickets will only be sold the morning of the event until 10:00am
-They are being sold at the event center on the Barnstead public beach and the Narrows Road Boat Launch
-Tickets are $15 each (Adult or Child)
-Veterans fish for free, however must still fill out a ticket in order to keep track of participants
*One ticket per person*
Target Species:
-Chain Pickerel
-Yellow Perch
-White Perch
-Black Crappie
*Fish will be measured by weight; tiebreakers, if needed, will be determined by length
Prizes:
-Fishing Gear
-Gift Cards
-Other local business donations
*Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place of each target species for adults and 14 under
*Value of gift cards and gear range from $25+++
*Will continue to announce specific prizes as they are donated
50/50 Raffle:
-Raffle tickets will be sold all day
-Drawing at 4:00pm
*Must be present during drawing!
Charity:
-All proceeds will be donated to Veterans Count-eastersealsnh
