Join the Red Shoe Project — 16 Days of Activism
As part of the 16 Days of Activism, Gladstone Women’s Health and Gladstone Regional Council Neighbourhood Centre invites you to participate in the Red Shoe Project — a moving visual art installation honouring women and girls whose lives have been lost to gender-based violence.
Each pair of red shoes represents a life taken too soon. Together, we’ll create a striking and meaningful display at Friend Park, Barney Point — a community symbol of remembrance and a call for change.
In partnership with Gladstone Regional Council and the Gladstone Region Neighbourhood Centre, we’re calling on our community to take part in this powerful project.
How can you get involved:
• Bring a pair of red shoes along to the official Red Shoe Project installation at 8am, Tuesday 25 November 2025, at Friend Park, Barney Point. An official opening ceremony will follow at 9am.
• Don’t have a pair of red shoes – no worries! Join one of our community painting workshops to help paint a pair of second-hand shoes.
• Share the details of the workshops and event with your friends, family, and networks to get involved.
· Local businesses and organisations are also invited to submit an expression of interest to take a pair of the red shoes from the installation to display in shopfronts and visible locations, to continue awareness beyond the event.
