Samara Jade
Samara Jade is a forest‑frolicking folk troubadour, multi-instrumentalist, and musical seamstress who threads together earthy grooves, soul-soaked vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics into a genre affectionately dubbed “Philosopholk.” A natural-born songcrafter, Samara’s first instrument was a set of pots and pans as a toddler—and she’s been making joyful noise ever since. Drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, Appalachian roots, Broadway musicals, and the wild whispers of nature, her music dances between play and depth—offering listeners both heartfelt medicine and clever mischief.

Wild Roots
Wild Roots is an independent, women-led band based in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Headed by Julia Peach and Olivia Moore, Wild Roots blends banjo, guitar, flute, bodhrán, and deep harmony to create music that kisses your ears on the breeze. They weave together their instruments and ideas into love songs for the mystic. Their way of wandering the world will have you grooving and floating across the dance floor.

Olivia and Julia have co-created music for nearly a decade; in addition to being soul sisters, the two share a deep passion for sustainable living and environmental and social justice.

Mica Sun
Mica Sun works as a land-steward, storyteller, actor, teacher, writer, musician, poet, performer, and sacred clown for children and adults of all ages. Mica performed for years with The Faerie Kin, an Asheville-area stiltwalking pageantry troupe, and has produced various works of theatrical mythic storytelling, including "An Appalachian Winter" with FringeFest in 2015, "Ancestor Forest: The Earth is Alive" with Josh Fox and Street Creature Puppets in 2021, and the touring show "The Floating Kingdom" —a mythobardic musical fable in collaboration with musician and singer-songwriter Samara Jade, from 2024-2026.

==> Financial Transparency
We know attending events like this is an investment of both time and money. Here is a rough breakdown of where your ticket money goes. These numbers are based on selling 100 tickets, and final numbers will fluctuate based on actual sales.

Example breakdown of a $33 ticket

$6 goes to the artists
$3 goes to local production partners (decor & other production costs)
$11 goes to pay our community production crew (+ tip share)
$7 goes to the venue & covering free food for moms
$2 goes to marketing (show graphics, promotion)
$1 goes to hard expenses -- paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc.
$3 goes to ticketing and processing fees

The venue itself operates on a small margin. Most of the ticket price goes directly toward artists, production partners and the crew who help bring these gatherings to life.

Revenue from food and bar helps sustain the event and support the ongoing stewardship of Hawk & Hawthorne and the land that holds it.

We are excited to announce the Hawk & Ivy is now under new ownership after a heart centered and symbiotic deal was made with the previous stewards. \n\nWe, the new owners of the Hawk and Ivy and our community of healers, food growers and artists are committed to continuing the legacy of the Hawk as a community gathering center and sliver of sanctuary in this tumultuous time of cultural renaissance.\n\nWe are not currently booking the B&B as all rooms have been filled to bring in the talent and resources necessary for the unfolding of our vision. We practice permaculture and are in a process of unpacking, observing and arriving. We have transitioned some of the ornamental beauty in the garden into organic heirloom food, are making improvements and clarifying the vision for our evolution of the event center. \n\nWe are working on an online event calendar. Please message us if you would like to know what we have scheduled for this fall and join our email list. You'll be hearing more from us in 2018!\n\nWith Love,\n\nThe Hawk Leadership Council"
