- **Event Description**: Join Lindsay, jewellery designer and maker from Bench Box, in this workshop where we'll adventure into ancient Egypt to create amulets worthy of the pharaohs themselves! You'll work with metal clay, a magical material that once fired in a kiln transforms into solid metal. We'll be using a bronze clay that looks like gold once fired. 

Learn how to cut, roll, texture and sculpt clay to create your own unique amulet, with books provided for inspiration too. You'll be shown a few different techniques to sculpt an amulet with symbols, carving your own Egyptian inspired design or even sculpting a scarab beetle. Join us in making your own magical charm for good fortune.

PS Prepare to get messy, wear clothes you don't mind getting clay on or bring an apron.

Recommended for those aged 6 years+ but everyone is welcome. Children must be accompanied and please book a space for everyone, including the adults.

This is a Pay What You Can event so please adjust as suits you. The Tuck Shop will be open at TCR for drinks and snacks. 

TCR Hub is delighted to present the first events of the TCR Time Travelling project, as part of the Street Cosmos partnership. Running from February 2026 to July 2027, we will be enjoying visiting different places and this is your chance say where and when we will go!

Working with Blackhall Community Centre, Auckland Youth and Community Centre (ATCC) and TCR Hub, Street Cosmos is an award-winning collaboration with Durham University that brings history to life here in Teesdale.  It is funded by Esmée Fairbairn Communities & Collections Fund which is run by the Museums Association, funding projects that develop collections to achieve social impact. With a time travelling day every holiday in 2026, we will immerse ourselves in different periods and places, through creativity, outdoor activities, dance, clothes, food and more. Be a part of it!
