- **Event Description**: Barnard Castle & Teesdale Art Society is a group of friendly enthusiastic amateur artists with varying levels of experience meeting on Monday afternoons throughout the year. We aim to encourage one another in creating art in various mediums, especially painting and drawing, with tutored sessions about once a month and mutual assistance at other times. We meet in Barnard Castle during school terms and for outdoor sketching and painting in various venues in July & August. 

Our Exhibition in May 2026 at The Witham is an opportunity for the Art Society to showcase who we are and what we do. We have issued a challenge to those exhibiting to include one piece featuring Barnard Castle. We offer some of our artwork and small cards for sale.  

We hope that visitors will enjoy looking at the Society’s artwork and that some may wish to buy original artwork and/or cards. We hope that some visitors will be encouraged to develop their own interest in creating art, whether or not that leads them to join our Society.
