Do you want to become a Mental Health First Aider?

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider. Upon completion of the two day Adult Mental Health First Aid, an internationally recognised course, you will be a Mental Health First Aider.


What will you learn?

You will learn about a range of mental health issues: depression, suicidal crisis, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You will learn how to:

Recognise the symptoms of mental health issues

Provide initial help

Guide a person towards appropriate professional help


What are the benefits?

You will help create supportive environments for people and improve their lives – whether they are your client, colleague or family.


Who can attend?

This course is only open to Newham Council staff and NHS staff working within Newham (particularly those in frontline public facing roles).


You will be expected to participate in the programme evaluation to help us learn assess impact of learning and improve future delivery. You will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, and a certificate (emailed post event)

When and where will the course take place?

A selection of dates are available from February – June 2019. All courses will be held at Westfield Stratford City, Workplace, 5th Floor, 2 Stratford Place, Olympic Park, London, E20 1EJ. All courses are run from 0900 – 1700. Late arrivals will be denied entry. Self-service refreshment available, lunch will not be provided. Book early to avoid disappointment.

The standard training costs £300 per person, however this course is fully funded by Newham Community Education Provider Network
