Mental Health First Aid Awareness
We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to attend a 4 hour mental health awareness course provided by Mental Health First Aid England.
What will you learn?
The half day course is an introductory four hour session to raise awareness of mental health.
It is designed to give you:
An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue
What to expect?
Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. Everyone who completes the course gets:
A manual to refer to whenever you need it
A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health
A certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware
Who can attend?
This course is only open to Newham Council staff and NHS staff working within Newham (particularly those in frontline public facing roles).
You will be expected to participate in the programme evaluation to help us learn assess impact of learning and improve future delivery. You will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, and a certificate (emailed post event)
When and where will the course take place?
A selection of dates are available from February – June 2019. All courses will be held at Westfield Stratford City, Workplace, 5th Floor, 2 Stratford Place, Olympic Park, London, E20 1EJ. All courses are run from 0900 – 1300. Participant must attend the whole duration of the course, and late arrivals will be denied entry. Self-service refreshment available. Book early to avoid disappointment.
