- **Event Description**: This workshop will present key elements of professional coaching and what it means to not just do coaching, but to be a coach in any environment. Participants will learn what coaching is, how it is different from therapy, counseling, mentoring, consulting, and other helping modalities, and will provide the opportunity for participants to practice coaching with each other. Coaching models and frameworks will be introduced, along with key principles of coaching to help ensure understanding of the coaching modality as distinct from other approaches.  Participants will be asked to bring a topic to the session around which they would like to be coached – business, personal, or other.  Participants are encouraged to download and read in advance two inexpensive initial readings: Hall, Chad. (2015). The Coaching Mindset: 8 Ways to Think Like a Coach. Coach Approach Ministries. Hall, Chad. (2016). Coach the Person, not the Problem. Coach Approach Ministries. 

$59 per person LJC and Franklin College alumni & staff, Franklin, Aspire and Indy Chamber members; $69, general public

About the Facilitator
Kurt Schoch is a Master Examiner with the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, having been actively involved with the national program since 1998.  He has also served as a team leader, assessment judge, and examiner trainer for The Partnership for Excellence (TPE), the Baldrige Alliance program covering Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia. Kurt owns Performance Improvement Consulting, a leadership coaching and organizational development consulting business providing leadership coaching, teambuilding, and other organizational development services.  He holds a doctorate in Adult Education from Indiana University and has been involved in higher education for more than 15 years.
