Back by popular demand after a 3 year hiatus! An Evening at Wickland. Step back with us to 1862 when the 49th Indiana, US was encamped around Bardstown and the property of Wickland ( Home of 3 Governors). The event will include a daytime living history open to the public and then the much anticipated preservation social ( reenactor only)! The daytime living history is a chance to show off your impressions and take part in a period baseball game. The social will once again include games of chance such as faro, chuck a luck, and poker along with raffles! Period correct Camping for the weekend will be allowed on the grounds of the site, or local accommodations are available. Your $5 registration fee gets you into the living history and the social where script for the games and raffle tickets will be sold. EVERY PENNY RAISED WILL GO TOWARD THE PRESERVATION OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SITE. You don’t want to miss this!
Living history is from 9 am to 4 pm ( daytime schedule coming soon)
Participants are welcome to camp Friday and Saturday night, and can begin set up as easily as 9 am on Friday the 27th.
Camps will be a garrison style, laid out in proper streets. Fires in designated areas only.
Parking will be adjacent to the site as in years past and vehicles may be moved back over to the site after 4 pm on the day of the event.
No pets are allowed on site.
To enter the historic house at any time, any heel plates must be covered with provided duct tape or shoes must be removed. This is to protect the original flooring.
Evening social 7-10 pm.
During the social, no real money can change hands at the gaming tables. To participate in the gaming tables you MUST purchase script from the event. Script is $20 for $100 in play script.
Raffle tickets for raffle items are $1 each. At the end of the evening, for every $10 in script you turn in, you get an extra raffle ticket.
Raffle items are hobby or Civil War related and on occasion, alcohol. Winners of age restricted items must be of age and able to show proof. If a weapon is won during the raffle, and the winner is under 18 it will only be released to a parent or guardian.
To attend the evening social you must remain dressed out in period correct attire.
We will accept cash or electronic payments via Venmo for script, raffle tickets and donations.
