Dyfodol y System Gyfiawnder yng Nghymru

Dydd Gwener 29 Ionawr

18:00-19:30

Prif Ddarlithfa'r Celfyddydau, Prifysgol Bangor

Estynnir gwahoddiad cynnes i chi ymuno â Dr Sarah Nason (Ysgol y Gyfraith Bangor), Dr Robert Jones a Dr Huw Pritchard (Canolfan Llywodraethiant Cymru Prifysgol Caerdydd) am sesiwn drafod ar ddyfodol y system gyfiawnder yng Nghymru.

Ar adeg pan mae dedfrydu i garchar, prawf (probation) a datganoli cyfrifoldeb pellach dros weinyddu cyfiawnder i Gymru yn cael eu hystyried, mae academyddion o Brifysgolion Bangor a Chaerdydd yn eich gwahodd i ystyried dyfodol cyfiawnder yng Nghymru.

Yn y digwyddiad hwn, sydd wedi'i anelu at fyfyrwyr, ymarferwyr ac aelodau o'r cyhoedd, bydd academyddion yn cyflwyno eu hymchwil ddiweddaraf ar faterion yn cynnwys:

•     Y data sylweddol newydd, sy'n cael ei gynhyrchu am y tro cyntaf mewn sawl blwyddyn, ynghylch natur y system cyfiawnder troseddol yng Nghymru, gan gynnwys;

•     Cyfraddau a phatrymau dedfrydu a charcharu ar unwaith yng ngharchardai Cymru

•     Data ar fenywod yn y system cyfiawnder troseddol

•     Data ar bobl Dduon, Asiaidd a Lleiafrifoedd Ethnig (BAME) ac anghymesuredd o ran hil yn y system

•          Y system cyfiawnder gweinyddol yng Nghymru (y gyfraith sy'n llywodraethu'r broses o wneud penderfyniadau gan gyrff cyhoeddus, ac unioni anghyfiawnder i unigolion). Mae'r system gyfiawnder hon yn sicrhau bod swyddogion cyhoeddus yn gwneud penderfyniadau cywir mewn meysydd megis tai, addysg, iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol. Dyma'r brif system gyfiawnder sydd eisoes wedi'i datganoli i Gymru.

•     Y posibilrwydd o ddatblygu cyfrifoldeb pellach ar gyfer polisi cyfiawnder a gweinyddu cyfiawnder i Gymru, a chreu Awdurdodaeth Gyfreithiol i Gymru.

Croesewir cwestiynau o’r llawr.

Y sesiwn hon yw'r ddiweddaraf mewn cyfres o ddigwyddiadau cysylltiedig mewn partneriaeth newydd rhwng Canolfan Llywodraethiant Cymru a Phrifysgol Bangor.

Cynhelir y digwyddiad hwn yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg. Bydd offer cyfieithu ar gael.

The Future of the Justice System in Wales

Tuesday 29th January

18:00-19:30

Main Arts Lecture Theatre, Bangor University

You are warmly invited to join Dr Sarah Nason (Bangor Law School), Dr Robert Jones and Dr Huw Pritchard (Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre) for a discussion session on the future of the justice system in Wales.

At a time when imprisonment, probation and the devolution of further responsibility for the administration of justice to Wales are all under active consideration, Bangor and Cardiff University academics invite you to consider the future of justice in Wales.

At this event, aimed at students, practitioners and members of the public, academics will present their latest research on issues including:

•     The Significant new data, being generated for the first time in many years, about the nature of the criminal justice system in Wales including;

•     Sentencing and immediate custody rates and patterns in Welsh prisons

•     Data on women in the criminal justice system

•     Data on people from a BAME background and racial disproportionality in the system

•          The Welsh system of administrative justice (the law governing public body decision-making and related redress for individuals). This justice system ensures that public officials make correct decisions in areas such as housing, education, health and social care. It is the main justice system already significantly devolved to Wales

•     The potential of devolving further responsibility for justice policy and the administration of justice to Wales and creating a Welsh Legal Jurisdiction

Questions from the floor will be welcomed.

This session is the latest in a series of joint events in a new partnership between Wales Governance Centre and Bangor University.

This event will be held in Welsh and English. Translation equipment will be provided.
