- **Event Description**: Richard Mullins will discuss the event known today as The Expulsion of the Acadians.  He will use the contents of his book "Evangeline: the Novel", which provides the historical information missing from Longfellow’s Evangeline.  He will present this history through the biographical material researched on each of the major figures involved.   A major objective is to educate on one of Canada’s greatest tragedies that is not systematically taught in schools, through both historical and personal experiences.

About Richard

Richard Mullins was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, attended St. Francis Xavier University, and earned a Bachelor of Education with a major in English Literature and a minor in history.  He taught physical education at an indigenous (Blackfoot) high school in Western Canada, English at Bridgewater High School, in Bridgewater, N.S., and served as Principal at Mahone Bay High School, in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia.  Mullins moved to Rumford, Maine, and taught English at Rumford High School for 25 years, English Literature at Husson University, and is now retired and living in Dixfield, Maine.  A few months into retirement, Mullins began research on his book, "Evangeline: The Novel".  He conducted research for three years, then spent five years writing, and is driven to inform as many people as he can about this Acadian tragedy.
