Originally developed as a teaching resource, and still used for that purpose today, this remarkable collection continues to inspire both the University and the wider community.The displays include full skeletons, skulls, taxidermy, antlers, eggs, and specimens preserved in spirit jars. Highlights include 7,500‑year‑old Irish elk antlers, a Tasmanian devil skeleton, a two‑headed lamb, a range of New Zealand birds, and a Galapagos tortoise. Some of the species featured are now endangered, such as the New Zealand kakapo. Visitors will also have the opportunity to speak with students who will be available to answer questions.The Brambell Natural History Museum in the Brambell Building displays specimens from the University’s zoology and geology collections. This includes full skeletons, skulls, taxidermy, antlers, entomology, molluscs, specimens preserved in fluid jars, fossils and minerals. These collections are part of Bangor University Collections and have achieved Museum accreditation, the standard for museums. The zoology collection is also used for teaching and this remarkable collection continues to inspire both the University and the wider community.
