In 1802, Peter Lichtenthal, an Austrian composer and arranger active in Milan, crafted this string arrangement that strips away vocal forces to reveal the work’s skeletal architecture. The result is revelatory: the contrapuntal lines gain clarity, expressive details surface, and Mozart’s harmonic genius is distilled into pure instrumental intimacy.
