Have you ever wanted to try improv or step onto a stage for the first time? Hootenanny is your chance!
Spend a full day discovering how honest stories and playful connection can spark spontaneous theater you never knew you had inside you. Led by a 35+ year improv veteran and founder of the Zmack Improv Family, this workshop will guide you through the essentials of improv—listening, trust, and storytelling—ending with a joyful, fully improvised evening performance of THE ARMANDO, Chicago’s longest-running improv show.
This workshop is a great entry into improv for absolute beginners – no experience necessary!
If you already have improv experience, you’ll love this deeper dive into the Zmack intercultural method, exploring character and scene work that transcends language and culture.
We will explore tools and ideas from Viola Spolin, Sanford Meisner, Armando Diaz, Paul Vaillaincourt, Will Hines, and the Zmack Inercultural Improv System - you'll have an all new improv toolkit you can take with you to play anywhere!
Limited to 12 participants. The evening show is free and open to everyone—come support your friends, laugh, and see what truth in the moment really looks like.
Click the link for the Google registration form - Early Bird pricing extended through 27 November (because its American Thanksgiving and we are thankful to play with you!)
