Ratha Saptami - Suryanamaskara
The Sun is the main source of energy for all living beings. Being responsible for our good health, vitality and nourishment, the Sun gives us life.
Ratha is Sanskrit for Chariot and Saptami, the seventh day of the month of Magha. Ratha Saptami is celebrated every year in the beginning of Spring. This day is believed to be the day the Sun guides us from darkness to light.
On this day, we celebrate the Sun in us through the practise of Suryanamaskara.
The practice of Suryanamaskara on this particular day is not only symbolic, it is a very healthy practice as well, working both as cardio and strength training. What better way to bid farewell to the winter season, isn’t it? :)
Suryanamaskara also helps us to invoke the Sun in us, that shifts the Tamas (heaviness) that is created in the winters to Sattva (lightness) through Rajas (movement).
Join us in the shala as we practise 54 rounds of Suryanamaskara on 24th January. ENTRY FREE!!
