PublicTexts I Where Do Stories Come From?


Children’s books author, Asha Nehemiah will be in conversation with author and editor, Bijal Vachharajani. They will discuss writing for children through the years with a focus on concepts, process and relevance.

Public Texts is a series of conversations with authors about their work, using particular texts as starting points for dynamic discussions.

About the Author:

Asha Nehemiah is a children’s author and her books are popular among children of all ages. She has written picture books, chapter books, short stories and mystery novels. Wonderfully funny characters get into hilarious adventures and crazy escapades in these stories. She writes in English and her books have been translated into several Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese and Urdu. She is currently based in Bengaluru, India and when she is not reading or writing, she bakes, eats chocolate, walks and plays bridge.

About the Moderator:

Bijal Vachharajani:

When Bijal is not reading Harry Potter, she can be found traipsing around the jungles of India. She is Editor Scissorhands at Pratham Books where she dreams up picture books. A journalist and children’s book author, Bijal has a Master’s in Environment Security and Peace from the University for Peace in Costa Rica.
