- **Event Description**: S. Aishwarya & S. Saundarya, widely known as the Divine Duet sisters, are amongst the most popular musicians in Carnatic music today. Both of them represent a precious musical legacy as the great-granddaughters of Bharat Ratna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi and the granddaughters of Dr. Radha Viswanathan, making them the true torchbearers of the MS Parampara.Aishwarya and Saundarya have won various awards from many organisations, most notably being awarded the ‘Yuva Kala Ratna’ from the PSG Charities in Coimbatore. In 2016, S. Aishwarya was designated as the Ambassador of Classical Arts by the Connecticut State Assembly (USA), and both sisters were felicitated by the Town of North Hempstead, New York in May 2025 for their outstanding contribution to classical music.Aishwarya was also named the rising star of Carnatic music by the AMN Global Group in March 2017, won the Vocational Excellence Award from the Rotary Club of India, and received the Young Achiever Award from the A3 Foundation in Chandigarh in 2016. Both Aishwarya and Saundarya were bestowed with the “Pride of India” Award by the Maharashtra Journalists Foundation in December 2021 and were designated Asthana Vidushis of Sri Chakra Maha Meru Peetham in Bilaspur in July 2022.Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar praised both sisters after listening to their singing of "Bhavani Jagat Janani", a bandish in Raag Mian Ki Todi, and complimented them for upholding the legacy of their great-grandmother.Aishwarya and Saundarya are cultural ambassadors of India, having performed in various countries including the USA, UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, Muscat, Mauritius, and South Africa.Aishwarya began her first lessons directly from MS Amma and Radha Viswanathan on Vijayadashami Day when she was just 4 years old. The vast repertoire of songs that form the MS Bani was painstakingly taught to Aishwarya by her late grandmother, Dr. Radha, over a period of almost 20 years.Aishwarya has also trained under Karnataka Kalashree Vidushi Smt. Jambu Kannan for nearly 17 years. She is a proficient Veena player as well, training in the reputed Karaikudi style, initially under Vidwan Sri A. Shankar Raman and currently under Vidushi Smt. B. Nagalakshmi. Aishwarya performed her Veena arangetram at the age of 14 in front of an esteemed audience.Saundarya initially received her training under her grandmother, Dr. Radha Viswanathan, and has also trained under the guidance of Sangitha Kala Acharya Vidushi Smt. Neela Ramgopal for over 10 years. She also plays the violin, having studied earlier under Smt. Anuthama Murali and currently under the tutelage of Sri Vishwajith Mattur and Maestro Vidushi Kanyakumari.Saundarya is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer as well, having performed her arangetram under Smt. Sumitra Nitin. She is accomplished in Western music, having completed her Violin Grade 7 practicals with distinction from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in London, and her Grade 3 in Piano from the Trinity College of Music, London.Both sisters also learn Hindustani music under Sri Omkarnath Havaldar. Currently, they are undergoing advanced training under the tutelage of senior Vidwan Sri A.S. Murali.The sisters are extremely popular on social media, with their videos garnering millions of views.Both Aishwarya and Saundarya are among the few musicians to have sung before Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and also former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Prime Minister's residence.They also performed in front of the Chinese Ambassador to India in New Delhi on 1st April 2025 to commemorate 75 years of the establishment of India-China relations, before an audience of ambassadors from various nations.While releasing a Suprabhatam rendered by the sisters, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja praised S. Aishwarya and S. Saundarya for carrying on the musical legacy of Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi.Both sisters performed at the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in April 2018 in the presence of the Indian Ambassador and other key dignitaries, and also at the prestigious Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg to a packed audience in the presence of the Indian Ambassador.They have also performed at the prestigious Gana Saraswathi Utsav in Pune in memory of Hindustani legend Kishori Amonkar in February 2019.
