Bangalore hosts its first literature festival for Children
Neev presents the ‘Neev Literature Festival’ for Children, on the 15th & 16th September 2017.
With a mission to create readers for life, the Neev Literature Festival has been carefully curated to introduce children between 5-18, to new authors, titles and genres, with workshops, panel discussions, and author talks.
The first of its kind, this 2 day festival will house more than 4000 titles and host celebrated authors, film makers and illustrators such as Anita Nair, Sudha Murthy, Paro Anand, Ranjit Lal, Jahnavi Barua, Vaibhav Kumaresh, Jane De Suza, Roopa Pai, Sudeshna Shome Ghosh, Gillian Wright and Tom Watson, to name a few.
Children from various schools will experience creativity in depth as they observe the guests create, co-create with them, and then create independently. The last and main day of the festival is open for the public which will bring parents, educators, librarians and students under one roof. Panel discussions and author talks have been designed to address not only the parents and children, but also aspiring young writers. The festival will have a uniquely diverse and comprehensive exhibition of books for children across Indian and regional international writers.
The festival will have experts discuss subjects such as, Why Read, Trends vs. Traditions – Writing for India’s children, Impact of the digital world, Dark themes in children’s literature, Characters we encounter in children’s books, and of course How best to raise strong readers.
Last but not the least, participating authors will also share with children their recommendations in books for different age groups, interests, genres.
