LFRD is here with an INTENSIVE Movement Training Program led by LFRD and facilitated by Rovaco Dance Company and LOS Little Guys on 15-16th September 2018.

Workshop Details:

In this workshop we will focus on components of physical research through the study of improvisation, floor techniques, and structured movement. Discovering motor mechanics of moving into, out of, and around the floor we will learn to exert energy efficiently using various surfaces of the body as mobilizers. Through physical, athletic, and dynamic movement, participants will be encouraged to reach their full movement potential. This workshop is geared to train dancers at the advanced/professional level!

Faculty Details:

1. Rovaco Dance Company:

Rohan Bhargava holds a B.F.A in Dance from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU and works for Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, Kizuna Dance, and 10 Hairy Legs in New York City. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Rovaco Dance Company and has received widespread acclaim as an emerging choreographer. He won "Outstanding Choreography" at Tamasha NYC 2016 and received commissions from The Moving Beauty Series and Mare Nostrum Elements. The James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation announced him as their Artist-in-Residence in 2016, and he was recognized by The Dance Magazine in the article "Immigrants Who've Inspired Us". In 2017, Rohan worked with 7 different composers from Mannes School of Music as part of the Alsop Entrepreneurship Award. He is currently creating new work for a CUNY Dance Initiative Residency at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center.


2. LOS Little Guys: Erik Elizondo + Dimitri Kalaitzidis​

Erik Elizondo​ was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. He began his studies in the performing arts with a focus on humanities, theater, and dance at the Center of Artistic Education Alfonso Reyes (CEDART) through the National Institute of Fine Arts. Most recently, he has completed his studies at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD), with a focus on contemporary dance performance. In 2013 he received a state grant from the Program for the Stimulation of Creation and Artistic Development (PECDA) under the title of Young Creator for two of his duets choreographies, “Siddhartha” and “Satana”, in collaboration with Cinthya Dueñas, Jessica Huerta and Teresa Arias. His teaching work as his personal research has a big interest in improvisation, and bringing the body into physical states through physical dynamics.

Dimitri Kalaitzidis​ was born and raised in Massachusetts, USA where he began training in dance at 9 years old. He graduated cum laude from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he received a Bachelor of the Fine Arts with a primary focus in contemporary dance. There he performed the work of Bill T. Jones, Merce Cunningham, Seán Curran, and Pamela Pietro. Dimitri later joined the Bodhi Project at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance where he worked Emanuel Gat, Sita Ostheimer, Mala Kline, and Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich and performed both in Europe and internationally. His past training also includes intensive periods of study at The School at Jacob’s Pillow, The Juilliard School, and Summer Stages at Concord Academy.
