- **Event Description**: Join Amy Orrock to explore two masterpieces by Rembrandt and Bruegel on display at Upton this summer: Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait, Wearing a Feathered Bonnet (1635) and Bruegel’s recently conserved Dormition of the Virgin (c.1564).

Diving into the details of these captivating paintings, this talk will compare and contrast the artistic output of Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c.1525-1569) and Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) and consider what made these two artists so distinctive, and so different.

Dr Amy Orrock is a National Curator for the National Trust and the curator of Meet Rembrandt: A Slow Looking Experience. She has published and lectured widely on Northern European art and has curated the exhibitions Rubens & Women (Dulwich Picture Gallery, 2023), Tudor Mystery: A Master Painter Revealed (Compton Verney, 2023) and Bruegel: Defining a Dynasty (The Holburne Museum, 2017). Amy completed her PhD on Pieter Bruegel the Elder at the University of Edinburgh.
