A range of community leaders and professionals with experience in education, storytelling, Black History, holistic practices, and health will teach throughout the program.Touch of Freedom School is part of the Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice founded by Dr. Karsonya "Kaye" Wise Whitehead.Students are expected to attend 80% of the classes. Participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.Class Dates, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. each session:January 10January 17January 24January 31February 7February 14February 21BONUS BOOK CLUB (dates and location pending): There will be a Touch of Freedom School Book Club featuring, Notes from a Colored Girl: The Civil War Pocket Diaries of Emilie Frances Davis by Dr. Karsonya "Kaye" Wise Whitehead. The discusison takes place from 12-1:30 p.m., includes lunch, and is located on Loyola University's campus. Book Club is not part of the required attendance.Please register for classes through the ticket button. All events are free and are sponsored by ASALH, along with financial support from the Mellon Foundation.
