ProFro is all about showing that natural hair is professional. This emboldening event, hosted by The Embold Project --ran by high school seniors -- in partnership with Johns Hopkins' Female Leaders of Color (FLOC), will bring together middle school girls for an evening of self-discovery, skill-building, and celebration of natural hair.
Through a mix of activities and discussions, attendees will:
By the end of the night, each girl will walk away not only with practical hair care and career-readiness skills, but also with a stronger sense of confidence that their curls, coils, and kinks are powerful and professional.
Info: Girls will learn how to do a professional hairstyle on doll heads. We'll focus on basic hair skills: detangling, curl defining, parting, and twisting.
Info: Johns Hopkins' Female Leaders of Color will give an interactive presentation about beginner, basic professionalism: how to greet others and introduce oneself, interviewing tips, professional dress, elevator pitches.
Info: Girls will engage in light-hearted mock interviews with each other! They will practice greeting and telling others about themselves and their interests.
Info: Girls will receive a packaged dinner from Chick-Fil-A. They will also receive a free natural hair goodie bag featuring products from Baltimore-based V.I.P Glam Cave.
