Preventing Violence In the Workplace
This class is for City of Baltimore SUPERVISORS only
The City of Baltimore is committed to promoting and ensuring the health and safety of all employees. The purpose of this policy is to heighten employee awareness of workplace violence and to provide guidance for employees and management to address the occurrence of workplace violence and its consequences in the workplace.
Upon completion of this course, participates will acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Policy Adherence with respect to all aspects of policy including roles & responsibilities.
Reduce the potential for violence in and around the workplace.
Encourage, coach, and foster a work environment that is characterized by respect and healthy conflict resolution.
Mitigate the negative consequences for employees who experience or encounter violence in their work lives.
Educate employees about the consequences of workplace violence.

Prerequisite: Must supervise other City of Baltimore employees
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Upon confirmation of enrollment, employees should note the date(s), time(s) and location of the training class(es) on their personal calendars and make every effort to attend as scheduled. Employees should be considerate and understand that by failing to attend a class as scheduled, they limit another employee who may have been able to attend. Any request to cancel a registration needs to be received at least three working days prior to the scheduled class date. If notification is not received at least three working days prior to the class start date, or the applicant does not show up for class, the applicant will be considered a "no-show". The agency will be charged for the full amount and no credit or refund will be issued. DHR Learning & Development Division reserves the right to cancel a class if the number of registrations received is such that it would make it cost prohibitive to conduct the class.
