Providing comprehensive guidance about wealth transfer strategies, minimizing estate and income taxes, and portfolio design isn’t just about the numbers. Many families struggle with how to communicate effectively about wealth, how to make decisions together regarding wealth, and how to navigate differences in generational styles and priorities. This presentation will focus on insights and examples to help family advisors address how to ensure wealth has a positive impact on the next generation.

Jill Shipley

As a senior advisor and Head of Family Governance and Education, Jill helps families sustain wealth  across generations and manage its impact. She brings over 20 years’ experience and expertise in  family systems, preparing next generations, communicating about wealth, navigating family  enterprise transitions, family and business governance and strategic philanthropy.

Jill is a recognized keynote speaker and author. She has been quoted in books such as Wealth of  Wisdom, When Your Parents Sign Your Paychecks and Kids, Wealth and Consequences and media  such as the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and Financial Advisor magazine. She is also an educator  with extensive curriculum development experience focused on experiential learning in the areas of financial literacy, investing, wealth preservation, philanthropy, personal and professional  development, and family governance.

Prior to joining Tiedemann Jill was Senior Managing Director at Cresset Capital leading the firm’s  governance and education practice and prior acted as Managing Director in the Institute for Family Culture at Abbot Downing where she was a family wealth consultant focused on family dynamics, education & governance, family business transitions and social impact analysis. Jill has been on the faculty with Stetson University’s School of Business where she taught courses on family businesses. She also served as an invited faculty member with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Executive Education Wealth Management Program.Jill holds a both an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Stetson University. Jill lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and son.
