About the event

Let Yourself Be Vulnerable
Guest instructor Elana Fishbein (Magnet Theater, NYC) teaches a workshop helping everyone tap into their vulnerability to strengthen scenes.

About this Event

Perfection, strength, and impermeability are great, but those qualities aren't necessarily relatable... or funny. This workshop is all about allowing ourselves to be more vulnerable and human as we improvise. Exercises will focus on accessing character wants, weaknesses, and emotional core. By tapping into honest, open-hearted, scene-work, participants will walk away with a more vital and satisfying style of play.

About the instructor:
Elana Fishbein is an improv teacher, performer, and director at the Magnet Theater in NYC where she can be seen performing weekly with the Armando Diaz Experience. Elana has written and performed for The Truth and Story Pirates podcasts, and is the creator/director of The Schmooze, a living room style improv show featuring a cast of performers ages 69+. Previous projects include, Kiss Punch Poem, Pepita (solo improv), and the two-woman play, Sisters Three (New York Times Critics’ Pick), devised entirely through improv. She has designed curricula and facilitated improv workshops for theaters, corporations, non-profits, and educational institutions around the world. Elana holds a Masters in Educational Theatre from NYU and has kept a jade plant alive for nearly 20 years. For more info about Elana's classes, shows, and somewhat-annual improv/yoga retreats, check out elanafishbein.com.
