"Herring Run" Shadow Puppets Crankie by Valeska Populoh
Arcadia Improvement Association would like to invite our neighbors and all lovers of Herring Run Park to this family-friendly showing of the "Herring Run" Crankie.
"Herring Run" is a mixed-media performance created by Valeska Populoh involving shadow puppets and overhead projection, accompanied by a live score composed by Marian McLaughlin. The show is a meditation on the complex mix of emotions evoked by daily walks along the Herring Run, a creek that runs through Northeast Baltimore City, and includes appearances, in the form of shadow puppets, by residents of the watershed, including a local mailman, a beaver, a box turtle washed downstream in a storm and other creatures that call this spot of earth home. Puppeteered by Azaria and Dirk Joseph of String Theory Theater, healer, gardener and artist Sun English Jr. and Valeska Populoh. (Photo by Ana Tantaros of Side A Photography.)
