This class is open to City of Baltimore employees only

World-renowned leadership expert John C. Maxwell says if you want to succeed, you must learn how to connect with people. And while it may seem like some folks are just born with it, the fact is anyone can learn how to make every communication an opportunity for a powerful connection. In Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, Maxwell shares the Five Principles and Five Practices to develop the crucial skill of connecting.

Learning Objectives:


By the end of this class, participants will demonstrate ways to find common ground with others

By the end of this class, participants will be able to list at least two ways of keeping  communications simple

By the end of this class, participants will be able to accurately discuss ways to capture people’s interest

By the end of this class, participants will be able to accurately recommend three ways to inspire others

By the end of this class, participants will be able to list three ways to stay authentic in relationships

DHR L&D Cancellation Policy

Upon confirmation of enrollment, employees should note the date(s), time(s) and location of the training class(s) on their personal calendars and make every effort to attend as scheduled. Employees should be considerate and understand that by failing to attend a class as scheduled, they limit another employee who may have been able to attend. Any request to cancel a registration needs to be received at least three working days prior to the scheduled class date. If notification is not received at least three working days prior to the class start date, or the applicant does not show up for class, the applicant will be considered a "no show". The agency will be charged for the full amount and no credit or refund will be issued. The DHR Learning & Development Division reserves the right to cancel a class if the number of registrations received is such that it would make it cost prohibitive to conduct the class.
