A half-day program providing practical tips for lawyers representing clients at mediation, with a focus on strategies for effective advocacy at the mediation table. Topics include: mediator selection, preparation for the lawyer and client, using the process to your client’s best advantage, and tips to avoid traps and pitfalls throughout the process. An interactive and engaging training by one of Maryland’s most experienced mediators!
About the Trainer
Neil J. Dilloff, JD is a retired partner and commercial litigation practice group leader from DLA Piper LLP (US), where he also served as head of litigation training. Mr. Dilloff has litigated over 100 jury trials in federal and state courts across the United States. He has served as a court-appointed and private mediator since 2002 and has acted as both a mediator and an advocate at mediation in over 1000 mediations. He is a senior adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law who teaches, among other courses, Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution and Negotiation. Mr. Dilloff has also taught continuing legal education for lawyers for over 25 years to members of the Maryland bar. Among various honors and awards, he has been named as a Lawyer of the Year in Legal Malpractice Law, Construction Law and Bet-the-Company Litigation by Best Lawyers in America.

Event Registration Deadline: March 18, 2019. Please note that same day registration will not be accepted.
Food & Parking
Continental breakfast and mid-morning snack will be provided. Parking is not included in the registration fee for the training. More information about parking availability will be provided upon registration.
Participants cancelling prior to the early bird deadline will receive a full refund, less at $50 processing fee. Refund requests received after the early bird deadline and prior to the registration deadline, will be limited to 50% of the registration fee. No refunds will be available after the registration deadline. Substitute participants are permitted in lieu of a refund. C-DRUM reserves the right to cancel the training in the event of low enrollment prior to the registration deadline, the incapacity of the scheduled trainer or other unforeseen emergency; full refunds will be made in the event of cancellation by C-DRUM.
