Author & Punisher is the industrial metal project of Tristan Shone, an engineer and artist based in San Diego, California. Since forming the project in 2004, Shone has become known for his custom-built “drone machines” and other self-designed instruments, which fuse mechanical engineering, electronics, and heavy music into a singular, punishing sound. Blurring the lines between man and machine, Author & Punisher delivers a visceral blend of industrial, doom, and drone, with crushing rhythms and immersive atmospheres that push the boundaries of both metal and experimental music. Over the years, the project has released critically acclaimed albums on labels like Relapse Records and garnered a reputation worldwide for its innovative, physically intense live performances.
