This session is ideal for aspiring and current urban livestock keepers seeking practical, responsible, and sustainable approaches.About the FacilitatorKharey Gayle, Animal Husbandry Coordinator, is an Animal Science and Agribusiness professional with over 20 years of experience caring for animals and supporting sustainable food systems in both Jamaica and the United States. He holds a Master’s degree in Animal Science and brings deep hands-on knowledge of animal care, nutrition, and humane husbandry practices. Since September 2004, Kharey has served at Filbert Street Garden, where he oversees daily animal care and supports education, mentorship, and community engagement. He’s especially passionate about helping people connect to animals and urban agriculture in ways that are accessible, ethical, and rooted in care for the community. Kharey is committed to using urban agriculture as a space for learning, empowerment, and building stronger, healthier communities.About the FarmFilbert Street Garden is community-centered green space in Curtis Bay where recreation, education, food sovereignty, urban wildlife stewardship, and neighborhood connection come together.Additional InformationThis workshop will be held outdoors. Please wear close-toed shoes, sun protection, and weather-appropriate clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Be sure to bring a water bottle!
