Create Baltimore and the Mayor's Office of Arts, Culture & Entertainment (M.O.A.C.E.), in collaboration with Baltimore Center Stage and Downtown Partnership of Baltimore invites you to a fireside chat with Emmy Award–winning actor, producer, screenwriter, playwright and star of trinity, Lena Waithe.
Create Baltimore's CEO Robyn Murphy and Lena Waithe will explore a growing national conversation: Why Black creatives are choosing Baltimore as a place to incubate, ideate, and create—safely and unapologetically. The discussion will center on Baltimore’s emergence as a welcoming home for women, queer, and Black artists; and why place, protection, and creative freedom matter in this moment.
Lena Waithe has selected Baltimore Center Stage as the home for her first foray into playwriting with trinity—a bold, intimate, and genre-defying exploration of love, humanity, and the power of imagination. She is currently in temporary residence in Baltimore developing the work, which she will also star in—marking a significant creative milestone and a powerful vote of confidence in the city’s artistic ecosystem.
This conversation will examine what it means to create in a city that embraces bold storytelling, supports visionary artists, and is actively shaping a new cultural renaissance.
