2026 Sanitary Sewer Modified Consent Decree Annual Public Meeting

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold its annual public meeting to provide an overview of the work covered by the Sanitary Sewer Modified Consent Decree (MCD)over the past 12 months. The consent decree requires DPW to address overflows from the City's sanitary sewer system.

The annual public information session will be held at the Cylburn Arboretum Vollmer Center located at 4915 Greenspring Ave. Baltimore, MD, at 6 pm.

The annual meeting provides an opportunity for residents to receive information about DPW's work to fulfill the terms of the City's Modified Consent Decree, a legal agreement between the City of Baltimore and Federal and State regulators, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Department of the Environment, to address sanitary overflows from the sewer collection system.

Residents can speak with DPW experts at individual learning stations on location. Covered topics will include preventive maintenance programs, upcoming sanitary sewer construction projects, water quality and compliance, and the Sewage Onsite Support (SOS Program) for basement backups caused by wet-weather events.

At the meeting, DPW will offer its free Baltimore City DPW Sewer Heroes coloring book to teach children about keeping its sewer system free of clogs and debris.
