Curated by local artist, Mietta, this evening will be a collaboration among storytellers and songbirds Mietta, Isabel Rumble & Zoë Porter-Parsons Details: Saturday, March 28th 5:00–8:00pm (doors close at 6pm, 5-6pm will be anchored in a Deep Ecology experience guided by Zoë, Mietta & Isabel) Red Hill Mechanics Hall This venue is intimate and a community-hall space. Bring along a picnic (no alcohol!) and whatever makes you feel cozy. There will be some seats around the sides of the venue. However most seating will be BYO low-lying camp chairs, cushions and tapestry rugs. This project involves the creation of a documentary series throughout 2026, produced by Darling Films. 'The Valley Song' will be the third of the series, focusing on how a gathering centred on communing with people and place impacts those present. Darling Films will be present and recording in the space. However, we will provide options if you do not wish to be filmed. Tickets are limited for this cozy gathering - bring a loved one, a cushion, or just your lovely, cherished self. We can’t wait to share this moment with you! With gratitude to the Mornington Peninsula Shire This is the third installment of the 'When The Water Stills' place-based storytelling series curated by local artist, Mietta, and proudly supported by the Mornington Peninsula Shire Performing Arts Development grants. Our artists Mietta Mornington Peninsula-based singer-songwriter, Mietta, weaves place, feeling, and community into tender story and gatherings. With earthy tones and graceful stage presence, she draws listeners into acoustic soundscapes that invite us to slow down and listen deeply. Influenced by storytelling traditions encountered through her work and travels across Australia and beyond, Mietta is emerging as a powerful voice in contemporary folk. She has shared stages along the company of Pete Murray, LIOR & Domini, Kim Churchill, and Charm of Finches. Beyond performance, Mietta works in education research and regenerative education, exploring how we build and restore relationships with each other, with story, and with the living world. Through music, community gatherings, and documentary storytelling, she creates spaces where the arts become pathways for reconnection - helping us repair what's been neglected and tend to the wellbeing of people, story, and place. Her work asks: How do we slow down enough to truly listen? How do we return our attention to one another and to the lands and waters that sustain us? How do we live and honour our connection to people, story and place?
