Our annual Four-Breed Calf Show (British Blonde, British Blue, Salers and Simmental), will take place at Ballymena Livestock Market on Saturday 22nd November.
Judging will commence at 10am.
Entry forms will soon be available from your NI Club secretaries.
A very similar format to last year.
See the rules below;
1. Entry fee is £10 per animal. Please make cheques payable to your breed club and forward to your club secretary – See addresses below.
2. Closing date for entries is Friday 24th October. No late entries will be accepted & must be accompanied by a copy of the pedigree certificate (s) and appropriate entry fee.
3. All entries must be exhibiter owned.
4. The decision of the Judges shall be final as to merit.
5. Classes will be cancelled or amalgamated if there are insufficient entries.
6. All animals must be in the judging rings at the time fixed for judging.
7. Request for refund of entry fee(s) made after the Entries Closing Date will not be considered. All entry fees paid are non-refundable.
8. Please indicate to your breed secretary if you have a Tb test after the closing date and prior to the show. If so, the cheque will not be deposited ‘till a clear test is confirmed. The cheque will be returned in the event of your herd being closed.
9. All animals must be properly restrained. Owners will be held responsible for any damage or injury arising out of their negligence in this respect. Owners must carry their own insurance to cover risks caused by animals in their care.
10. Objections must be lodged with you breed secretary in writing, accompanied by a deposit of £20.00 before 5 p.m. on day of Show.
11. Only calves registered to Northern Ireland herds (APHIS) are eligible for entry.
12. No entry to show ring without a white coat (includes exhibitors and attendees).
13. For senior classes bulls must be rung and heifers wearing a snaffle.

Safety Policy
All exhibitors must have valid liability insurance.
All entrants and attendees must take personal responsibility to ensure the health and safety of everyone attending the event.
Visitors must share responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of others in their charge by not taking unnecessary risks on the Show Site, particularly close to animals.
The entry / exit area from the show ring(s) including the thoroughfare to from the stalling pens must be kept clear at all times. Breed stewards and exhibitors are expected to ensure this is the case.
All animals must be kept under strict control at all times and must not be allowed access to public thoroughfares. Aggressive or fractious animals must be returned to their transport vehicle and removed from the site.
All exhibitors must sign the Show risk assessment and ensure all controls are in place.
Children must not be left in charge of any animal. No child under 12 years of age is allowed in the showing ring. Unless accompanied and in the young handlers class.
Advice and guidance on safety matters from Safety officers and Stewards must be strictly followed. Important note for Cattle Exhibitors
Please bring your sticker book with you on the day of the show.
Stalling:- From 7am on the day of the show. All animals to be stalled by 9.00am. Show starts at 10:00 sharp. Please bring your own straw.
Entries must adhere to BVD regulations i.e. be tissue tagged. Exhibitors may consider vaccinating for BVD and IBR in line with their herd and breed health plans.
Two show rings will be in operation. Each ring will alternate between 2 designated breeds throughout the classes. Breeds will be designated when final entries are tallied.
Prize money will be paid by individual clubs and is based on class numbers. Individual classes (minimum prize money), 1st £25, 2nd £15 3rd £10.
Junior and Senior Champions; Club cup/shield or cash alternative (Each club to confirm).
Classes Salers / Simmental / Blonde / Blue
Class BS - Bull born on or after 01/09/24 and on or before 31/12/24
Class HS - Heifer born on or after 01/09/24 and on or before 31/12/24
Class BJ - Bull born on or after 01/01/25
Class HJ - Heifer born on or after 01/01/25
Class PP – Pairs class. Pair of animals owned by one exhibitor and entered in any class(es) above.
Breed Junior Championship. Champion & Reserve Breed Senior Championship.
Champion & Reserve
*Blues will have a Male and Female Champion & reserve and an overall Champion.
Additional Classes for Simmentals (Salers if required – club to confirm depending on entries)
Class BC – Bull calf born on or after 01/04/25
Class HC – Heifer Calf born on or after 01/04/25
Young Handlers; There will be three classes, Junior, Intermediate and Senior young handlers. These will be ‘interbreed or open’ classes and purely to promote ringcraft and encourage young breeders.
Junior: 8-12 (age on day of show). Should be accompanied by an adult in the ring.
Intermediate: 13-16 (age on day of show). Can be accompanied by an adult if you wish.
Senior: 16-19 (age on day of show). Can be accompanied by an adult if you wish.
Entry is free and entries taken on the day of the show.
