What Kind of Courage?

The Ballarat & District Irish Association presents an exploration of the backbone it takes to migrate - to journey worlds away from home, country, and night sky.

Poets, historians, and storytellers delve into the emotional courage and fortitude of Irish women who journeyed across the sea, with hopes of building a new life and creating new communities.

Featuring short film, poetry, historical readings, and live music, we will share together story and verse to bring heart to bear on the stories of the past - where fact is illuminated by fiction.

Set at a time of Samhain, when in Irish mythology the veil between the worlds is thin, we hope to hear whispers of the past.
