Gain increased understanding and awareness of family violence within same-sex and gender diverse communities, learning how to effectively support people moving forward. During this training, participants will:
- Describe sex, gender and sexuality using holistic and inclusive frameworks.
- Explore the common experiences of homophobia, transphobia, biphobia and intersex prejudice, as well as the impact these have on the health & relationships of LGBTI people.
- Apply an intersectional framework to facilitate LGBTI inclusion within domestic and family violence prevention and intervention approaches.
- Identify strategies to improve outcomes for LGBTI people through their own work practice, their service, and the sector.
Included within the training is the cabaret performance, My Other Closet, providing a fantastic insight into real life experience of domestic violence in a same-sex relationship and forms the building blocks for having meaningful training and conversations how to reduce family violence for everyone.
Thanks to the generosity of paid sponsors, we have been able to provide this professional development opportunity and cabaret at a significantly reduced rate.
Confirmation of attendance will be provided upon request for those needing CPD points.
