Harmonia Mundi in Ballarat—choir and music theatre
Waldorf Wayfarers—singers from Taiwan, India, Japan, Switzerland and Australia—are visiting Mary's Mount Centre in Loreto College, Ballarat, to present an unforgettable program of choral songs and music theatre, directed by composer Judith Clingan AM.
The Wayfarers will present works from their current tour repertoire, which includes:
– Ten new choral songs written especially for this tour in India, Taiwan and Australia
– Two new short pieces of Australian music theatre
– Harmonia Mundi, a one hour music theatre work written by Judith Clingan and Jessica Dixon in 2017 for solo singers, chorus, mime and orchestra
– Songs and dances from the cultures represented
Waldorf Wayfarers is a collective of students, alumni, teachers, parents and friends of Waldorf or Steiner schools around the world, who love singing and related arts, and who travel in order to share performances of choral music and music theatre with other schools and communities.
The Wayfarers 2019 tour includes 8 centres in ACT, NSW, Victoria and South Australia. Tour members include students, alumni, teachers and parents from Steiner schools in five countries. The body of 75 performers, aged 11 to 77, have rehearsed the program together in Canberra for two weeks.
On the tour they also offer music workshops in the communities that they visit.
