On 10/29/19, we met with Laura and Carmen, representatives of Senator Melissa Hurtado.
We had 2 asks:
A way to detect Valley Fever spores. How can we tell where they are?
Soil sampling and mapping. We'd like to see funds go to CSUB for cocci research. We are ground zero for the Valley Fever epidemic.
We also met with Congressman Cox's office on 10/21/19.
We met with Joseph, a representative of Congressman TJ Cox last week. Congressman Cox is working on Valley Fever legislation to introduce in 2020 and our input is needed.
Valley Fever Awareness and Resources, a community group, had 2 asks for this upcoming legislative year:
Mandatory physician training before physicians practice medicine in endemic areas. This includes physicians who travel into endemic areas for short-term positions.
Shipping labels on any goods sold and shipped out of a Valley Fever endemic area.
Those are our 2 asks. This legislation would apply in ALL states.
We'll be meeting with more legislator's to see how ALL elected officials can join together and save live through Valley Fever legislation.
Can you help support our asks?
We need your help. Don't live near Bakersfield?
You can still be involved through conference calls and telephone calls.
We are scheduling appointments with all our elected officials. More dates to come.
