This symposium will bring together state and regional experts, clinicians, and public health leaders to discuss current trends in TB care, emerging clinical guidelines, challenges in treatment adherence, latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) management, and strategies to improve patient outcomes in diverse populations. Attendees will gain practical, evidence-based knowledge to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance TB prevention and control efforts within their organizations and communities.Learning Objectives: After participating in this CME activity, attendees should be able to:Understand active TB cases in Kern County including key demographic breakdowns.Understand the basics of tuberculosis(TB) disease and latent TB infection (LTBI), and the differences between them. Identify patient populations at risk for TB and how to test for TB infection, including preferential use of interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) testing for non-U.S.-born persons. Understand the importance of diagnosing and treating LTBI to prevent TB disease and describe and apply preferred short-course LTBI treatment regimens to improve treatment completion outcomes. Describe and perform a proper clinical evaluation to exlude TB disease and describe and apply next steps in care for a patient with TB disease including reporting, treatment regimens, and case management. Identify mechanisms to report TB cases to Kern County Public Health. Target Audience: This course is intended for Kern County healthcare providers. This is a free event. Dinner will be provided.Accreditation: Kern County Public Health is accredited by the Accrediation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.Credit Designation: Kern County Public Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 2 Credit(s).™ Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.CEUs provided by Kern County Public Health.
