Navigating Boundary Confusion in People with I/DD We are excited to welcome Terri Couwenhoven, M.S., internationally recognized speaker, author, and AASECT-certified sexuality educator specializing in healthy sexuality education for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is the first session in a three-part KDSN educational series focused on puberty, body safety, personal boundaries, and healthy relationships. Parents and caregivers will learn why boundary confusion may occur for individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual/developmental disabilities, why healthy boundaries are so important, and practical strategies for teaching safety, independence, and respectful relationships. Lunch & Learn will also be available live on Zoom. Foundations for Growth: 0–5 Developmental Series Feeding and Speech: How Feeding Skills Support Speech Development Featuring Heather Vukelich, MS, CCC-SLP, an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Feeding Specialist with more than 23 years of experience serving the Down syndrome community. Families will learn how early feeding skills—including spoon feeding, cup drinking, straw drinking, chewing, and oral-motor development—help build the foundation for speech and communication. Foundations for Growth is in person only. Zoom will not be available for this session. Connect Club Connect Club will be available for kids and teens ages 5+ while parents and caregivers attend a KDSN Pathways session. Participants can enjoy supervised activities, snacks, games, and opportunities to connect with others in a fun and supportive space. Additional Supports ?️ Spanish interpretation available for Lunch & Learn and Foundations for Growth. ? Transportation available by request. Transportation requests must be submitted by Monday, August 3, 2026. ?️ Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. ? Sibshops will begin in September 2026. Registration Required Registration is required for everyone attending, including parents, caregivers, children, and guests.
