🏔️ The Adventure: Mount Baden-Powell Towering high in the San Gabriels, this iconic summit delivers jaw-dropping, panoramic views in every direction 🤯

This is a considered a hard hike meant for experienced hikers. It includes a lot of uphill climbing and reaches a high elevation of 9,399 ft 🏔️. If snow or ice makes the trail unsafe, we will reschedule—safety always comes first.

🌄 South: sweeping views over the valleys
🌵 North: the vast Mojave Desert
⛰️ Everywhere: rugged, wild mountain beauty

This is an 8.25-mile round trip challenge with a thigh-burning 2,834 ft elevation gain and nearly 40 switchbacks 😅💪
But when you hit that summit… 🌬️ 360° views that make every step worth it 🙌

Starting at Vincent Gap, we climb immediately—no warm-up here! ⬆️
You’ll actually be hiking a portion of the legendary Pacific Crest Trail 🌎—stretching 2,600 miles from Mexico to Canada. Pretty epic, right?

❄️ ⚠️ GEAR ALERT – READ CAREFULLY
Microspikes are REQUIRED to bring, if not necessary,  then we'll leave them in car. 🧊
There have been multiple rescues on this trail recently. We do this the smart way:

Note that this is a wilderness hike. Please carry your own personal first-aid kit. Come prepared with the ten essentials, including a map that you’ve studied beforehand and the knowledge of how to navigate and find an alternate route in case of wildfire or other emergency.

Trail Advice
I will carry the Harrison Mt. Baldy and Cucamonga Wilderness Map. A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for parking at the trailhead. Parking fills up quickly. Carpool and be there by 6:15am to check in. We begin our hike at 6:30am. Don't be late. 

Getting to the Vincent Gap Trailhead: 
 ~ From the 210 Freeway in La Cañada Flintridge, head northeast on Angeles Crest Highway (CA 2) for 50.3 miles to Vincent Gulch Divide where there is a large turnout on the south side of the road at the start of the trail. 
~ From the 15 Freeway, take exit 131 for Route 138 west. Drive 20 miles and turn left up Angeles Crest Highway (CA 2). Go 14 miles and turn left into the trailhead parking area.
~ Vincent Gap is a popular trailhead a few miles outside of Wrightwood on Highway 2. There is plenty of parking and there are pit toilets. The Vincent Gap is on the backside of the mountains from the LA basin, so it takes some time to get there, but it’s worth it
