Those of you whose idea of heaven, (or just a great day out), is a visit to your local cinema to settle down and lose yourself for a couple of hours in a classic film are hopefully going to get a lot of enjoyment out of the Axminster Heritage Classic Cinema.

Back in June we held a Time for Tea talk on 'The Classic Films of the 1940s' which proved to be extremely popular, and everyone we spoke to afterwards about screening classic films here at the heritage centre was excited by the prospect. 

It was around this time while researching the possibility of setting up a cinema such as those in Kilmington and Membury that we discovered Cinemas for All who help individuals and organisations to set up their own cinemas through grant funding, and one-to-one training.

At Axminster Heritage Classic Cinema we will be focusing on screening films from the 1920s - 1999 with each of them featuring a special connected event or immersive experience.  For our first film - It's A Wonderful Life, we we are delighted to be joined by talented vocalist, Jay Hobday who will be singing Christmas songs to get everyone into the festive mood. The afternoon will also feature minced pies, mulled wine, fascinating film facts, Q&A and much more. Refreshments will also be served during an interval.

We are so grateful to Cinemas for All who have awarded us £300 to help make all of this possible and can't wait to share more classic films with you each month.
