Garden Club of Lakeland members are the busy bees supporting this effort at the sale.  Plants grown by the inmates in the Plant Therapy program where over a two-year period they work the gardens take class and become landscape licensed certified. This inmate training program is the only one this the USA with this type of program. They also offer a waste management certification program to the inmates.  The Plant Therapy program is a joint effort of Avon Park Correctional Facility and the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Pat Shira is a member of the Garden Club of Lakeland and their members support the twice a year Plant Sales at Avon.
