His combination of storytelling and soul-searching lyrics becomes an opportunity for the listener to be transported to a world beyond their own. Musically, Drew has been compared with Tom Waits, John Denver, Nina Simone, and many more. He mixes gospel with country and blues to create a sound all his own. Drew calls it Southern Gothic.Drew does shows as a solo artist and as an acoustic duo, but during ACL he debuted his newest project, the “Drew Preston Band”. A 4 piece americana / rock group that not only does Drew’s original works, but brings high energy covers of artists ranging from Buffalo Springfield to Chappel Roan.
