Join us for a special talking circle where we openly discuss ways to create truly conscious community by exploring what is called, the "Common Thread Prayer.”
The Common Thread Prayer is a Circle practice without a single point of origin. It is a universal way of praying and listening that has appeared across many peoples, cultures, and communities throughout time. Its purpose is to align each person with the Will of Great Spirit—the living current that moves through all of creation.
To discover the “common thread” is a form of vision-seeking, yet the vision we seek is not only for individual clarity. It is a vision for the People, a collective understanding that arises when each voice is heard. We are like spokes on the Wheel of Life: each of us holds a unique vantage point, yet all are anchored to the same center. That center—the axle of the Wheel—is Source, Great Spirit. Through this center we are connected to all our relatives in the Circle of Life, and only by returning to this center can we learn to walk in right relation with one another and with the world around us.
When we enter into this practice, we speak from the heart and fall into deep listening. As each person offers their truth, a theme—a single thread—naturally emerges from the collective sharing. Our prayer is to notice this thread, to weave it gently from one spoke to the next like a spider weaving her web, and ultimately to offer it back into the center as a gift to Spirit.
In this way, we step aside and allow the voice of Great Spirit to speak through the people. Spirit often communicates in symbols, patterns, archetypes, cycles, and through the medicines of the natural world. The Common Thread Prayer teaches us to open to this language, to attune ourselves to the subtle ways Spirit moves through the Circle.
This practice can be used in intimate gatherings where people wish to weave a unified prayer with focus and intention. It can help communities and organizations navigate complexity, reveal where we stand upon the Medicine Wheel, and clarify the direction we are being asked to walk in the present moment. It is a practice that can be returned to again and again, as its uses are inexhaustible.
Whether we are seeking a vision for the collective, clarifying our next steps in creative projects, or aligning our actions with the heart of the community, the Common Thread Prayer brings us back to the center—back to the place where all perspectives meet, where guidance becomes clear, and where we remember our unity on the Wheel of Life.
We are asking a generous love donation of $10-$15 in order to cover the cost of renting the space for the duration of this event. This prayer circle is not for profit, but is a service for the community we would like to continue to offer. If you’re interested in hosting us at your home or event space for the next circle, please reach out to John or Willow.
Thank you relatives! Let’s weave.
