Also, guests will be able to see our current show, "Weber Furlong: A Life of Painting, Persistence and Resistance."

Weber Furlong (1878–1962) was a German-American artist and teacher who has been called the first woman modernist painter. Despite her close involvement in the development of Modernism in the US, Furlong has been largely overlooked. Like many women, she struggled to be taken seriously as an artist, both because of her gender and because of resistance to the modernist movement. She persisted, though, stating that, “To live is to paint.”
