Multi-dimensional vocalist and lyricist, Joshua Banbury brings his latest project “Yeshua” to Austin for three special nights across three different venues. July 26th will be hosted at the fantastic dadaLab!
The rising star from Texas has performed his work in jazz, folk, and opera at some of the most respected artistic organizations in the country, including The Apollo Theater, The New York Philharmonic, The National Black Theater, The Phillips Collection, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s All-Star Orchestra, and our very own Fusebox Artist Salon.
In his first presentation of original music Joshua brings jazz to the temple in this testimonial and prophetic ritual using music as a means of sorcery, to empower the lost ones, enlighten the heavy laden, and awaken the deity within.
This musical offering serves as a “bandish” between worlds, dimensions, and ideologies. Using the most alluring attributes of opera, jazz, and theater, alongside spiritual traditions across the globe to reflect on the expressions of antiquity and imperialism in the modern age.
For the past year Banbury has studied Hindustani singing and the music of Tagore, under Gurudev Sanghamitra Chatterjee in NYC, and matriculated through Mystery School in which he has studied ancient and esoteric African prophecies and oracles of the African Mother. Joshua is ready to share his first collection of songs and oracles to the people, to inspire and awaken truth in this mysterious modern age.
